In Reply to: PETER & MICHAEL PIFER OF OHIO by Bernie Sheffer-Hunt of 362

Hi! I think I may have info on this line of Pifers. Peter Pifer Sr. was born in Germany and came to the U.S. in 1784. He had two sons that I know of - John Peter and Henry. John Peter was born in Philadelphia in 1786. Michael was born in 1816 in Salem Township, Columbiana Co., Ohio, and married Hannah Wilcott in 1841. One of Michael's sons, William Hayden Pifer, was born on February 12, 1850 in Garrettsville, Ohio. William was married twice, once to Sarah Clark of Warren, Ohio in 1874 and had two children (Daisy and Harry), both of whom predeceased him. He later married Mary E. Briscoe of Normal, Ill in 1910. One of Michael's daughters was my great grandmother, and I'd especially appreciate any info I can get on her. I don'tknow which daughter, only that her married name was Mrs. G. M. Weimer and she had two sons, Ernest and Frank. By the way, I believe Peter Sr. owned a plantation in Southhuntingdon Township, Westmoreland Co. and deeded it to his son John Peter in 1839. I may have more info to share on this line of the Pifer family.
