Hi! I think we must be talking about the same Pifer family. I'd love to find out more about them - I know so little about my father's father's side of the family. Here's some of what I do know:

My paternal great grandmother (I don't know her given name, but her married name was Mrs. G. M. Weimer) was one of the daughters of Michael Pifer (born in 1816 in Salem township, Columbiana county, Ohio), who was the son of (John) Peter Pifer (born in 1786 in Philadelphia), who was the son of Peter Pifer, Sr., a native of Germany who came to the U.S. in 1784. William Hayford Pifer was the son of Michael and the great grandson of Peter Sr. William was married twice, but none of the other Pifers that I know of. I have more info that I would be happy to share.
