Hello,
My Fifer family is from Philadelphia, PA area. I have always been told we are from German descent. Not sure if some of the branches may have scattered to other states or not, but sure they must have as we are now at a dead end!
Did your John Pifer have any brothers? My ggg grandfather was Jesse Fifer b.abt.1815 PA, married Rachel Andrews b.abt.1820 Pa. They had 5 children that we know of. Richard Anderson b.1840 NJ, Edward Andrews b.1842 PA, Neil, Elizabeth and Hannah all born in PA. Some of the family is buried in Magnolia cemetery, Tacony section of Philadelphia, and some are buried at North Cedar Hill cemetery, Phila.
