George Daniel Pifer 1/19/1840-4/8/1903 Bellefonte PA

I am searching for any family of George Daniel Pifer. He served in the Civil War from 1861-1865 in the PA Vol 52nd.
My earliest finding of George is in 1860 Census of Bellefonte where he was listed as living with the HUMES family (they were known to take in homeless children). In none of George's records can I find a mention of his parents except in one document during the war he gets leave to go home to Bellefonte to settle his father's estate. That is the only mention of George having parents. George married a Harriet LIVINGSTON in 1863 in Bellefonte PA.
