Information is sought concerning Gravel Springs Farm, built 1836 in Star Tannery, Frederick County, Virginia for Henry Richards, and, from 1855 to 1963, home to the Miley and Pifer family.

Conrad Miley (1794-1879) and wife Catherine M.(1812-1892) purchased the property in 1855, and conveyed it, retaining a life interest, to Mary (Honaker?) Miley (1843-1930), and her husband, George Washington Pifer (1833-1917.) The property then descendend to son Elijah Pifer (1878-1959) and wife Emma Elizabeth Sale Pifer (1882-1965.) The property was sold outside the family in 1963.

For a planned restoration of the property, the current owners seek any information on the property or its early owners, particularly any photographs, images, records, letters, or recollections. Any information or leads would be most welcome.

Further details may be found at: http://www.gravelspringsfarm.com

Many thanks,
R. Warnock
