Pilchers of South Georgia

Finding my Pilcher ancestors has really been as difficult task, so that is why I am turing to this ask for help from any of you who have ANY information on the Pilchers of South Georgia. I have a feeling that none of you knew that our "branch" even existed!

I am descended from Lewis Vincent Pilcher, Jr. 1872-1929. We believe he was born in Schley Co., GA. He died in Cook Co., Ga, which is where OUR Pilcher branch is still located!

His father, also Lewis Vincent Pilcher was born about 1839 in what we believe was then Sumter Co., GA. I am desperate for information on him and his wife. I found one source that says his wife was a Sarah Battle from the famous Battle Family from that area...however, another source says that she was a Crutchfield or Crushfield...any help would be GREATLY appreciated, as I have a wonderful picture of her (at least we have been passing it down as her for a couple of generations now!)
We believe that she may have been of Indian heritage...we still have that Native American look in this branch of the family today...including myself!

In addition, we believe L.V. Pilcher (the elder) to be the son of Vincent or Vinson Pilcher...does anyone have any information on THIS part of the family history!?? We found one place that indicated that this was so, and that he was a son of a William Pilcher....

I don't know where to end here, so I guess i'll just hope that someone out there will read this and offer some assistance!

Your Pilcher Cousin,

Christina Huss
Quitman, Georgia
