Thos.Richard Piles(1729->1802) & Rachel Templeton(1729-1802)

Looking for parents, siblings of Rachel Templeton. I've hit a brickwall with my earliest known ancestor, Thomas Templeton(b abt1765 possibly Pittsylvania Co, VA- d >1810 Russell (present day Scott) Co, VA). He appears in the 1790 NC census with a John Templeton (b abt1755), & a Robert Templeton (b abt 1760).

Thos Richard (AKA Richard) Piles bought 150 acres from John Templeton in 1792 on Rocky Creek, possibly as"quartering lands" for Richard's wagon train company. Thomas was a witness to this sale. Also living in close proximity were Richard's sons, Jeremiah & Joshua.

What-if any- is the relationship between Rachel ( who I think married Thos Richard in the Goose Creek area of Loudon Co, VA) and these Iredell Co. Templetons.

Could family lore be right;i.e., that my line of Templetons were originally from Ireland, migrated to PA & then south (via Loudon Co. ??) to NC before ending up in SW VA. All that we're reasonably sure of is that the Rocky Creek Templetons were one of Thos Richard Piles conglomerate of allied families that had lands along his wagon routes to quarter his trains and where there was adequate wayer (Rocky Creek???) and grazing for the animals.

Any help appreciated. I've been trying to go thru, around, over & under this brick wall for at least 30 yrs.
