Now we know that Henry Jr. was your Grandfather and we need to find Henry Sr. now. Hopefully, when we find him, that will lead us to a bunch of Pilkingtons! So! I think that Henry and Ellen were home that day when the census guy came around in 1870, because they gave the right info. on their birth states. The other census that showed John's father in KY and mother in TN, and that may have been one of the younger kids guessing while the parents and older kids were working the farm. Who knows...could have been Ben!! But, that is still interesting isn't it...KY and TN. So, maybe their family (Henry's and Mary C's) are from around that area still.
I had heard that there was an Indian on my Grandmother's side, and this may very well be Mary C. My father, who is her son, Walton, gave me up for adoption when I was 5 yrs. old. He is very dark complected and has a very square jaw. He has dark hair and dark eyes. I am the lightest in my family. Even my mother, who is not related to our side, is very dark. So, I have always wondered what happened to me...must be the Irish/English jumped in.
William Porter Pilkenton was very handsome. His wife was from a Huguenot family who came from France then to England, and then America during the persecution of the Protestants. Her daughter, my G-Grandmother (Nora Belle), looked a lot like William, I think. She was petite and had very pretty skin. Nora's (Pilkenton birth name) daughter Louise is still alive living in Texas. I am doing this for her as much as for myself. She is about 80 years old and she is so sweet and friendly. She will be happy that I found proof of John and Henry that is for sure.
PLEASE EMAIL ME!!! I work at a College in SC and stay on the computer quite a bit. I really would like to correspond more with you and your family and get more good trails to continue our research!
