In a book a member of my family has called "The Hawes of Caroline County, VA," page 20 is written:

"Alexander Hawes, of age in 1797; m. 1794 Lucy Fouke, 3 June 1797. Alexander Hawes and Lucy his wife of Stafford County sell to William Halbert of Essex "all that tract of land alloted to him of his father Samuel's estate & adj. the lands of PARMENAS PILKINTON, Jon Spindle, the said William Halbert, Walker and Frederick Hawes." (Essex Deedbook #34, p. 509

13 March 1800. Spencer Hawes and Elizabeth his wife of Lincoln County, GA sell to PARMENAS PILKINTON 38 acres in Essex County, VA. Essex Deedbook #35, p. 228)

It seems that my Phoebe Pilkinton must have been a neighbor of the Hawes family so she could have been a daughter of Parmenas. Speculation I know but worth more research.

Hope this helps.
