Could your J.P. Pilkinton have any connection to this J.P. found on the roster of Co. G, 5th Ga Vol. Inf. It was raised in Schley Co., Ga., however this J.P. joined the outfit in 1863.

Pilkinton, J. P.--- private November 20, 1863. Surrendered
Greensboro, N. C. April 26, 1865. Possibly James Pilkinton,
married Irene Marcus 29 Dec 1859, found on 1870 Upson census,
Thomaston, pg. 168, age 43, found Upson 1880 census HH 299,
age 51, b. NC.
