Just posted to your other query and overlooked to ask.
Have you locate Sandor's manifest? Do you know which port he came thru? Was he naturalized citizen? Best if you could locate another piece of paper to verify the name of the town. I have not come across a Hungarian first name Count. I would say that Berthy / Berti could be short / term of endearment for Bertalan/Bartholomew.
