Pillion Family Genealogy Forum

Hi Gary,
My Pillion ancestors were from Lee County VA and Knoxville TN area, too. My maternal grandmother was Elizabeth Pillion (b. 1879) in Lee County VA. She died about 1918 during the influenza epidemic in Knoxville. She was the daughter of George T. Pillion(b.1854 in Rose Hill, Lee County VA; d. 1884 in Indiana) and Minerva Edmondson (b. 1859). George T. Pillion was the son of John Pillion, Jr. (b. 1821, Jonesville, Lee County VA; d. 1899, Taylor Co. TX) and Sarah B. Carter. John Pillion, Jr. was the son of John Pillion (b. 1763, Northumberland Co. VA; d. 1855, Lee Co. VA) and Prudence Pillion(maiden name unknown). John Pillion was the son of John Pillion (b. 1735, Westmoreland Co. VA; d. 1792, same location) who fought in the Revolutionary War. All of these people can be found in the Ancestry World Tree, but I verified them with the help of a family Bible. Some other names mentioned in this Bible are: George W. Mincy born 1874, Morgan Pillion born 1882, Lorry K. Pillion born 1898, Martha M. Pillion, born 1895, George T. Pillion born 1902, Clara M. Hopson born 1905 and Clifford W. Hopson (date obscured). Also, George T. Pillion married 1878, George W. Mincy married 1901, Noah Hopson married 1901, John F. Pillion married 1910. So presumably all these people are related, at least through marriage. Hope this info is useful to you or someone here.
