My Pillion ancestors came to the US from Ireland however, I have located several other families in France, Switzerland, England and they believe that that family originated in France. There are records listed in the Mormon church records dating back to the 1700's in France. See the Pillion files in the Mormon church Ancestral Files @ familysearch for a connection back to Ireland. The family of William & Mary Spring Pillion is listed. My grandfather's cousin found another Pillion family in the same town of Athlone, Westmeath, Ireland which I may be related to. Michael Pillion born January 6, 1836 (date of birth is from the immigration and naturalization records USA)in Athlone, Ireland to Patrick & Eleanora Shallow Pillion. He was christened about Jan. 30, 1836. (The information regarding the parents and the christening is from Ted Pillion from West Newton, MA who worked for many years on the family search, including several trips to Ireland to search records before his death in about 1985 or 1986).
