Gen Gideon Pillow versus Gen Simon Buckner

Dear Friends,

Confederate Gen. Gideon Pillow, and Confederate Gen Simon Buckner were both at Fort Donelson (TN)in 1862. I have heard verbally from at least three sources that there was "bad blood" between these two. There is said to have been a "feud," of sorts, between them, but I can't the reason for the anomosity between this.

On of my sources says the Pillow - Bucker feud came from some incident in the Mexican War. Yet another source says the Pillow - Buckner feud came as the result of an election in 1857.

What is the real story behind the anomosity Genls Pillow and Buckner??
