Earl Crane Plano

I am searching for information on my grandfather's birth parents. I don't know how much luck I will have, but here goes anyway...

My grandfather was adopted by the Plano family of Kissimmee, Florida. His adoptive parents changed his name to Earl Crane Plano. Actually, as an adult he discovered that he had never legally been adopted, but that's a long story. The Plano family owned an orange grove in Kissimmee near Lake Russell.

I'm not sure how much of what I know of my grandfather's birth is true, but this is what I think I know...

His father's last name was Pinder and his mother's last name was Hall. Pinder was born in England and Hall died in Orlando, Florida. I know that my grandfather had a sister who was adopted by another family in Kissimmee, but they had little or no contact growing up. Both children had blond hair and blue eyes which was in stark contrast to the families who had adoped them.

Earl was born on or around July 25th 1919. As an adult he got a copy of his birth certificate in order to apply for a passport and discovered that his actual birthdate was a few days off of the one he had been celebrating. Also, he discovered that there was a problem with his name. When the birth certificate was filled out, the father's place of employment was put on the line for child's name. So, his birthname was "Over the Top Pinder". I've heard that "Over the Top" was the name of a cigar factory in Tampa, but my research hasn't been able to turn up any information on this place. I seem to remember hearing that the birthfather's name was Robert, but that may have been what my grandfather's name was supposed to be.

If you have any information on any of this, please let me know.

Thank you.
