Long Island Pines
Posted by: David Allen (ID *****2091) Date: May 10, 2002 at 00:27:08

I am descended from Joshua Pine who first came to Long Island in 1644. He was one of 6 men from Devonshire who were given title to a huge chunk of Long Island. My mother has a copy of the original title document. Several Pines fought in the revolutionary army. There was a John Pine who was Captain of the Westchester Guides, and according to our family lore was the inspiration for James Fennimore Cooper "The Spy"
