Pine, Decatur, Herndon

Stephen Decatur, Sr., married Ann Pine in Philadelphia in 1774. Ann was a daughter of John and Nancy (Bruce) Pine. Stephen and Ann (Pine) Decatur had children, including the famed US Navy Commander, Stephen Decatur, Jr., (1779-1820).

Col. Benjamin Herndon (1749-1819) of Revolutionary fame, married Sarah Pine (1752-1798). He was born in Caroline County, VA, married Sarah Pine in 1769. They moved to Wilkes County, NC, in 1773, and to Newberry County, SC, in ca. 1790.

Obviously, Ann Pine Decatur and Sarah Pine Herndon were contemporaries. I have never been able to discover the identity of Sarah Pine Herndon. However, I suspect that she was somehow related to Ann Pine Decatur because Sarah Pine Herndon had a son, Joseph Herndon, who named a son born in 1816 as "Stephen Decatur Herndon."

Can anyone tell me if Ann Pine Decatur and Sarah Pine Herndon were sisters?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
