It has been some time since the posts were written, but I am just now starting this search. William Asbury Pine, 1830-1903 is my great grandfather, is said to have been born Sylvan, Cove Gap, PA. I have found him in 1870 1880 and 1900 census in Washington CO. Myd. I would dearly love to know his parents name-have heard it might be William.(1808 from Va) Would like something official. A book History of Little Cove talks about Pines coming from Va in 1826. I have heard that he married someone at Little Cove. That all fits, but there must be some birth records. Also seems like missing link may have to do with Civil War--a person Asbury Pine is noted two places as a draft resister.
So if you have any more info, I would like to share mine with yours.
