I don't have any information on Elish Pinion, but Thomas Nelson Pinion is my g-g-grandfather. The only thing I have been able to find out was that he was born in 1790. His father was John Berry Pinion, b. 1760 in VA (county unknown). Have never been able to find anything on when they moved to SC or anything on Katherine Hand. John Berry Pinion and Katherine Hand had five children, 3 daughters and two sons. One of the sons was John Berry Pinion, b. 4 Mar 1855, d. 2 Jun 1918. He married Laura Elizabeth Skipper, b. 27 Feb 1867, d. 25 October 1942. They had 11 children. The other son was Jim Pinion, m. Della Ledford, no children. The 11 children of John Berry Pinion and Laura E. Skipper were John Berry, Clara, Augusta, William J., Eva Jeanette, Ada Mae, Pearl Inez, Jess McCoy, Frank Edward (my father), Lois Elizabeth and Emily Jane. My aunt told me that John Berry Pinion/Katherine Hand lived in Greenville, SC where the court house now stands, but have been unable to verify. They moved back to Cartersville, GA. If you should find out anything else about this family, would like to know it and I will be happy to share other info with you, if I find out thing else.
