I believe that this Reuben only had the two sons... but I do not know for sure. It seems most unusual for a family in that time period to have so few children. This Reuben served in the Revolution. His son Reuben, made a deposition for the pension which mentions he and his brother, Benjamin. This, of course, does not exclude the possibility that there were other children. You do not mention if your Stokes was born in NC. This family seems very difficult to get a handle on, partially because of the frequent name spelling changes... Pennel, Paniel, Pinion do not even sound alike. Good luck and I will post any new findings here to this forum.
