I am a descendant from Benjamin Pinion b. 7 Nov 1802 Wilkes Co. NC d. 3 Jan 1900 Montgomery Co. NC md. ca 1838 (where?) Jane Vickers. On the 1840 Montgomery Co. NC census, 1850 Marshall Co. TN census 1860-1880 Stanley Co. NC census where Jane died and on 1900 Montgomery Co. census with his second wife Elizabeth Hicks beside whom he is buried. He is the son of Thomas Pinion b. 1785 Wilkes Co. NC. On the 1840 Montgomery Co. NC census; 1850-1860 Giles Co. TN census, wife Sarah "Sally" b. 1790 NC. They may also have returned to Stanley Co. NC. Thomas is the son of the first wife (name unknown) of Reuben Pinion b. 1752 VA or Surry Co. NC d. 1843 Stanley Co. NC
leaving a will in which he leaves everything to his son Reuben Wilson Pinion b. 1 Feb 1800 by his second wife Lydia Bond who he married 15 Sept 1793 in Anson Co. NC. Reuben is listed on the 1840 Montgomery Co. NC west of the Pee Dee River now Stanley Co. NC as a Rev. War. Pensioner. In his pension file is an affadavit by his brother Benjamin Pinion b. 1769 VA d. 1840 Wilkes Co. NC wife Elizabeth Judd.
Reuben is the son of Thomas Pinion (Pinnell) who died 1793 in Surry Co. NC wife Susannah Tyre/Tiry. He was the administrator of his father Benjamin Pinion (Paniel)will of 1755 in Surry Co. NC wife Susannah (surname not known)probably last known of her is in Burke Co. NC.
Based on the Virginia birthplace of grandsons, Rueben and Benjamin, Benjamin Paniel is probably the grandson or great grandson of William Pinion who was brought to Virginia in 1643 by John Wall. See "Early Virginia Immigrants" by George Cabell Greer page 260 published 1960.
Another son of the Rev. War. pensioner Rueben Pinion is Young or Younger Pinion b. 1792/3 (not sure which is his mother). He married his first cousin Sarah Pinion b. 1798 in Wilkes Co. NC 22 Mar 1836, d/o Benjamin and Elizabeth (Judd) Penion, and second to Luda b. 1797.
Would like to know the name of Rueben's first wife. I have documented Reuben as a supplement on my Daughters of American Revolution membership. Betty K Price
