The Cherokee Pinions are not Cherokee from their Pinion line. In 1800 Anson Co., N.C. there was a Reuben Pinion. He had a son Stokes Pinion. Stokes Pinion married Nancy Talley. Nancy Talley was at the very least 1/4 Cherokee.
They moved from Anson Co., to Pendelton Dist. S.C. Nancy Talley Pinions parents and brothers and sisters were there also. From there they went to Rabun Co., Ga. where Nancy's brother Evan Talley lived. Then to Lumpkin Co., Ga. Stokes Pinion died in Dawson Co., Ga. June of 1858. Stokes Pinion left a will and named all of his children including the names of the daughters husbands. Isn't that great. The 2 youngest daughters and Sarah, had not married when he died. Stokes and Nancy Talley Pinion had the following children. Mary b. 1804, Sarah b 1807, William 1808, Jacob (Jackson)1809, Nancy ??, Ellison 1818, Rebecca 1822,Thomas 1821, Elizabeth ??, Jeptha 1823, Peggy 1833, Melinda 1835 and Dovery 1843. Do you think you fit into any of these families? Doris
