From what I gather Martha Malissa Penion married Joseph Chitwood in Cass Co., Georgia on 10th Feb 1853.
They had several children. One being Martha Malinda and another being James Fletcher Chitwood.
In the 1870 census of Gordon Co., Georgia there is a Malinda Pinion age 60 born in S.C. She has a son James Fletcher Pinion age 21 born in Georgia.
Martha Malissa Pinion Chitwood, may have named her daughter Martha after herself and Malinda for her mother making a Martha Malinda Chitwood.
Martha Malissa's son James Fletcher Chitwood was probably named after her brother James Fletcher Pinion. This isn't proof but a great place to start.
This is not my line but I will help if possible.
If you connect to the Pinions in Dawson, Cherokee or Lumpkin Co., of Georgia areas I have a lot on that family
