Have you been able to find any proof for the Cherokee connection? My family lore has it that Elvira Pinion, (born around 1833 in South Carolina), was of Cherokee heritage. My mom and I both have B+ blood which is common in Native Americans which has always lead me to believe there might be some truth to the story.

Do you know anything about Elvira Pinion? I've not been able to find anything about her except that she married my great (not sure how many great's) grandfather, James (Jimmy) St. John in St. Clair County Alabama.
