Amie, how exciting! I have so many questions about this family.

James Fletcher Pinion was the brother of my great grandfather Mancel Musgrove Pinion. He was known as Mance. Mance was born in Georgia, possibly Pickens Co., March 12, 1856. He married Frances Lucinda Swafford on March 11, 1875 in Calhoun, Gordon Co, Ga. He moved to Texas before 1900.

I found Mance with his mother Malinda, brother Fletcher and his wife Amanda, his sister Sarah on the 1870 census in Calhoun, Gordon Co, Ga. I also found Mance, his wife and children in 1880 also in Calhoun. Next door was Malinda, his mother, and Sarah with Sarah's son, Gus.

We know Mance had at least one more sister, Mary who married Jim Bradshaw and they lived in Chattanooga, TN.

Do you know more about this Pinion family? Who was their father? What was their mother's maiden name? When did Malinda die? Were there more brothers and sisters?

I think they might have had a sister Martha who married into the Chitwood family and moved to Arkansas.

So many leads and so many dead ends! I'd love to correspond more on this subject. Please email me directly at I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
