I knew that sooner or later someone would post a followup message.Thank you very much.I believe that my James P. was probably named after an Alfred Pinkard who lived on Pine Mountain, Georgia, near the Hendry family because they had a habit of naming children after relatives and close friends except for a couple named after counties.That is, if his middle name was Pinkard.James P. eventually ended up living in the Valley area - Lanett, Alabama and West Point, Georgia.Of course, so many families did because of the mills.Your Pinkard line may or may not be connected somehow, but probably not by blood.To date, I have not found his name listed with the middle name.He referred to himself as Jim or Jim P. or James P or J. P.Makes me wonder if he knew what the "P" stood for.Older family members are comfortable with Pinkard so I will leave it at that until proven otherwise.
