Hi: My 3rd g-grandfather was James Budd Pinckard, whom my g-mother knew very well.
That census is the only place I've see him listed as James Bird and it puzzled me for a long time. (That census taker also listed Althouse as Outhouse so maybe it was his hearing!) JBP was born in 1805 in Culpeper Co., VA to Nathaniel Pinckard and Lucy Coleman Green. The Pinckards came to Madison Co., Illinois from the Springfield, Ohio area (from VA)in 1819. JBP married Isabella Amos in 1824 and owned a farm in Jersey Co., IL. They had 15 children and he died in 1890 and is buried in Brighton cemetery. Hope this helps. IL
