You are quite correct; Margaret, the 2nd wife of David Pinkerton I, is not necessarily a TRICKY. That Agnes is
the daughter of Margaret is clear, also clear is the fact
that on 27 Feb 1764, that daughter was Agnes TRICKY.

It would have been so much clearer if David had just said, Mrs Agnes Tricky.

I am sorry not to be able to shed any further light on who Margaret first married, or who the father of Agnes may be.
