Hi - Audrey alerted me to your request. We have the Etowah, Alabama marriage records for 1880 to 1883 at our local family history center. I was hoping to find his presentation of credentials, as it would likely have church affiliations listed in that, but he must have presented them before 1880, if Etowah was a county that used them. All of his marriages in Etowah county listed him as Robt Pinkerton, minister of the gospel. The weddings were done in the home of a relative, not a church. The last one found on that roll of microfilm was performed on April 27, 1880. If there are earlier records on microfilm, you may find more information there. Many of his sibs and other relatives who moved back to, or never left North Carolina were buried in Baptist cemeteries, and his relatives who moved to Arkansas and were descended from a half brother are Baptist, but so far have not found specifics on Robert.
