Pinkerton, McKay and Hunter occur together in the townland of Secon, near Ballymoney, co. Antrim. The Pinkertons and McKays intermarried several times (3 or 4) in succeeding generations; there may be at least one Pinkerton-Hunter mariage, though I'm writing from memory here and can't be sure. I don't know of any links to Vermont, but there are several families of Pinkertons and I haven't traced them all. It might be worth while looking at this area for your ancestry
