In Reply to: Lovina Pinkham, Samuel Pinkham - NH & Maine by Robert Hall of 746

I've been in contact with several members of this branch of the family. There is no Abial Pinkham. This is a family story that is wide spread. I have no idea how it started. However, there is no Abial Pinkham in the Pinkham genealogy nor in any deeds, probate or other records.

This is what I have on this family and it can be proven with deeds and such.

1 Samuel PINKHAM Jr. Born on 1 Sep 1768 in Barrington, New Hampshire. Samuel died in Industry, Maine on 4 Dec 1838; he was 70.

Research: “History of the Town of Durham, New Hampshire (Oyster River Plantation) with Genealogical Notes” by Everett S. Stackpole & Lucien Thompson (2 vols., Rumford Press, Concord, NH, 1913, reprint, Somersworth, NH 1973)

In Nov 1789 when Samuel was 21, he married Sarah CHESLEY, in Barrington, New Hampshire. Stackpoles claims that she is the daughter of Isaac-5 (Lemuel-4, Philip-3-2-1) and Sarah (Thompson) Chesley is highly unlikely.

2 Samuel PINKHAM. Born abt 1735. Samuel died in Barrington, New Hampshire on 28 Jan 1780; he was 45.1 Occupation: Yeoman; Husbandman. Gravestone says 1790, possibly a misreading of 1780 when his estate is administered (Strafford Co. Probate) Court Suit #17836 against Paul Chesley (called yeoman of Madbury) on 1 Aug 1768; #6427 again called of Madbury (occupation husbandman) on Nov. 1759 to Mar 1761 v. Mark Hunking Wentworth of Portsmouth

abt 1760 when Samuel was 25, he married Hannah DANIELS.

They had the following children:
              i.       Abigail (~1762-)

              v.       Elizabeth (~1772-)
              vi.       Lois (~1776-1854)

3 Hannah DANIELS. Born abt 1740. Hannah died in Barrington, New Hampshire bef 1780; she was 40.

4 Richard PINKHAM Jr. Born abt 1710 in Dover, New Hampshire. Richard died in Barrington, New Hampshire on 5 Jun 1778; he was 68.1
