Partially agree. Brahmins as well other casts (Goans, not to miss anyone) where against the discriminatory rules brought by the Portuguese. They were not against the Portuguese. The 1787 conspiracy was no to expel the Portuguese but to bring is another order with more power to Goans. Of course, there where many many Goans in favor of the Portuguese rule and rules. The Pintos of Candolim had a Portuguese coat-of-arms, they were close to the Holy Inquisition and to some of them it was granted the Portuguese knighthood... Also the 1787 revolt was denounced by a Goan priest...
