Hi David,
There is a lot of confusion with regard to Sarah.Some say she was the daughter of the Earl of Essex,Algernon Capel and born in Maldon, Essex.The descendants of the Earl can only trace 3 offspring,at most.Thomas Capel emigrated to USA and had a daughter called Sarah,possibly named after our Sarah.
The marriage of Sarah and marriage stated that she was living in the parish at the time when they say 'of' but not where she was born.Some descendants say they have heard of an errant viscountess,but what occupation could Thomas have had to give him access in that case?
The only clue to their possible ties to the nobility is that on the IGI there are references to the birth dates as well as christening and most normal people did not register their children because of the cost and the baptismal records were discovered in the parish records.
I haven't improved on the records,and thank you for keeping the questions open.
