Hello Sheila, If Harry does not appear on the 1891 and subsequent Census forms, and there is no record of his death in the UK then it is motst likely that he went abroad. On 8 Sep 2000 Regina Grider Pipes (regina.pipes@prodigy.net) made an enquiry about a Harry Pipes who went to USA in 1889 from Lenton, England. Lenton is in Nottingham only a few miles away from Derby. If this is the same person then he would have been about 18 when he left England.
