I hope I'm replying correctly to the message board.

My Aunt tells me that as far as she knows, Martha's parents were Sophia Pitchlynn and a Franklin from Alabama, hence her maiden name Martha Adeline Franklin. Martha married George W. Purvis and they had a daughter named Emily Miranda Purvis. This was in Smith and Rankin Counties, Mississippi.

I have a picture that shows Martha, Sophia, and Emily together. I can identify Martha and Emily, based on other photos, but I can't be absolutely certain about Sophia. She appears to be very old, and I'm guessing that this photo was taken in the 1910's or 20's.
