I have in my records that Thomas Jefferson the son of Sophia and John, claimed the name of Major John Pitchlynn to get Indian citizenship. I have that he was denied twice, 1st by Dawes Commission, then denied by the Choctaw. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Did he claim the name of his father who was really the major? Hope to hear from you soon.

Thanks,
Kim Eiland
