Good to see you ignite the "Pitchlynn Fire" again. All that is currently on the Forum verifies that little is known for sure. I do know the Pitchlynns lived in Mississippi until John Pitchlynn,as interpreter for the U.S. Government beat the Indians out of their homelands via the Treaties of Doaks Stand, and Dancing Rabbit Creek. Then our esteemed President Andrew Jackson, brought inthe federal troops to run the Indians to Oklahoma on the "Trail of Tears." John Pitchlynn's will is on file in MS state Archives and history. I have seen his grave near West point,MS. His son Peter spent most of his life trying to get back what was given away with worthless treaties that were broken by the government. I too am a descendant of the Pitchlynns, one of the Pitchlynn women married a FRANKLIN. The records are so poor regarding Indian marriages, I still haven't finished that part of my family tree.A real close study of the Pitchlynn's show a few bad apples and a few good. I think Chief Peter P Pitchlynn was an outstanding human being. He had a close friend, Charles Dickens. Peter is buried in the Congressional Cemetery in D.C.
