My name is Asa Hunt Maley, only son of Asa Russell and Helen (Hunt) Maley. My father Asa Russell Maley was born in Davis, Oklahoma, August 29, 1915 the oldest son of two born to Asa Hall Maley and Ruth Russell, b October 12, 1895, Davis, Indian Territory. She was one of 9 children born to Perry Russell and Margaret Wright (b August 13, 1853), Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, near Boggy Depot. Margaret Wright was the daughter of Ashley Wright and Arabella Howell (b Mississippi) to Calvin H. Howell and Rhoda Pritclynn (b 1814 Mississippi) to Major John Pritchlynn and Sophia Folsom.
I just wanted to introduce myself and I am glad I finally found my father's Choctaw heritage...My father was born in a log cabin and served his country in WWII as a Corpsman attached to the Marines...was on three invasions Quam, Guadelcanal, and Tarawa, he then put himself through school and became a pharmacist and owned a drug store/soda fountain and later a smaller pharmacy in Sayre, Oklahoma for 37 years until his retirement from that profession in 1974...from 1974 until 1991 when he passed away he was a Farmer and Rancher 7 miles west of Clinton, Oklahoma....
I do have one question...if Perry Russell (who married Margaret Wright was connected in any other way to the Folsom Pritchlynn line or if anyone has ever heard of his name his funeral at the time of his passing was the largest funeral in Davis history.
