John fought for the British in the King's American Regiment. He would not be a good person to try to get a DAR membership through! He fought under Captain Isaac Atwood's Company as a private and was discharged December 2nd, 1782. (Loyalists in the Southern Campaign of the Revolutionary War, Vol. III, p 88.) In 1795, he served in the Frontier Wars. By the war of 1812, he had attained the rank of Major.

I would be happy to send you my documentation.
