Pitchlyn, Sophia - Mississippi Choctaw
Posted by: Mike Knight Date: December 19, 1999 at 06:56:24

I'm trying to find the descendants of Sophia Pitchlyn and any other information available.

Sophia applied for citizenship under the Treaty of Dancing Rabit Creek on July 26, 1831. She was listed as a half-breed (Choctaw) with 1 child under 10 and 3 over 10.

I've been told that she is part of our family history, her daughter being Martha Adeline Purvis. I believe that Martha was from Alabama and her maiden name was Franklin. She married about 1843. They all apparently lived in Mississippi at some point.

Please reply if you have information.

Thanks,
Mike
