I'm descended from James Rowland BROWN & Margaret "Peggy" PITCHLYNN .Trying to prove Margaret has been a challenge .
Margaret was born 1815 MS. according to testimony given by her son , Thomas B. BROWN . On the 1860 Ellis Co. , Tx. census , she is supposedly born in Indiana and md. to a William W. WRIGHT , with 3 more new children ; George , Texana ( md. a GILL ) , and Susan .
According to some GILL descendants Margaret was md. to a _______BLAND before she md. James R. BROWN. James R. BROWN"S first wife was a _____LOCKE . One BROWN descendant remembers being taught she was descended from a CHIEF JOSEPH .
According to testimony by Margaret's son , Thomas B. BROWN , Margaret is the dau. of John " Jack" PITCHLYN and the granddaughter of Maj. John PITCHLYNN . He gave this testimony before the Choctaw/Chickasaw Citizenship Committee in 1895-1904 and was turned down .
If anyone can shed some light on the heritage of MARGARET " PEGGY" PITCHLYNN , I would really appreciate the help .
