Doelph, I am a LEWIS family researcher. A published list of marriages in Washington Co., Tn list a marriage for Samuel LEWIS and Elizabeth PITCOCK, 15 Aug. 1821. In Monroe Co., Ky a William H. Lewis had wife, ELIZABETH PITCOCK. Children of Samuel Lewis and Elizabeth Pitcock are listed as: George J. Lewis b. 1830; John Lewis b. 1833; William Lewis b. 1834 and Charles A. Lewis b. 1836. [Pioneer Lewis Families" V/729, Ed. Michael Lewis Cook. In Monroe Co., KY the US census for 1850, household/family 980/1021 lists: Wm. H. Lewis 53 b. Va.; Elizabeth Lewis 52 b. Tenn, John Lewis 17 b. Tenn. (b. 1833); William Lewis 16 b. Tenn.(b. 1834); Charles Lewis 14 b. Tenn. (b. 1836). A Mary Cable 22 b. Tenn is listed in this household. It is obvious that these are the children listed for Samuel Lewis and Elisabeth Pitcock. Do you know if there were two Elizabeth Pitcocks who married Lewis men or if one Elizabeth married two Lewis men or if someone has made a big error? Are Samuel and William Lewis the same man? D.
