Am again working on my Pitcock family and found this. Also, in searching web found some possible connections with your family. My Melissa Elizabeth Pitcock married Jasper Sailes. Both were in Wright County, MO. My great-uncle Elbert Eugene Sailes told me when I was a child that the spelling of the Sailes name had changed at one time. It was because someone had stolen a horse and may have been hanged for it. The Sailes' came from Crittenden Cty, KY to MO. That's horse country. Of course, everywhere was horse country then. Anyway, I can't find out anything farther back than Benjamin Sailes/Sales/Sails who was Jasper's father. Melissa's father was Robert T. Pitcock. Her mother was Mary Poindexter. I believe that they originated in TN. Robert T. also had the following children: Pryanna/Prianna, Malcey Ann, Robert Henry, and William. Robert's parents (as I have them) were Stephen B. Pitcock and Nancy or Mary Stansberry/Stansbury. I have them originating in NC. Is this family the same as yours? Can you stear me in the right direction? I've found several Stephen Pitcocks and am confused. I have no other relatives that are trying to determine our genealogy. Actually, my immediate family is the tail end. I'm in my 60's and want to leave this information on to my sons and grandchildren. It's hard when there's no one to ask questions of. Hope you can be of help. Thanks so much in advance.
