Just ran across this forum. Whoda' thunk it. Just a footnote to your email. Charlie and Lizzie were my grandparents and the story I heard was that Charlies' father was married more than once. Let's say twice just for grins. His second (or subsequent) wife did not like the spelling of the Pitcock name and arbitrily changed the spelling to Pitcox. I've often wondered just how confused the first wife's children were about that. So, that left Lizzie with a maiden name of Pitcock along with all of her side of the family and Charlies' side along with their children carrying the name of Pitcox. Why didn't she just add an "s"?
