Libby, First I want to say that all the dates are usually a guess because either the person mentioned or the person who wrote the info got the date wrong. My grandfather JAMES PITTMAN is listed as being born in 1893 and in 1877. The correct date was 1877. These THOMAS PITTMANS are probably the same man. A good way to find your tree is DNA testing. We had it done and it shows my family has a close relationship to CAPTAIN THOMAS PITTMAN. Even towns listed can be confusing because boundaries changed a lot back then and people moved around! I have found so many different dates on family members that I now think that if it is within a 10 to 15 year period then it is probably the same person. There was and still is lots of sloppy record keeping!I also have PITTMAN on both sides of my family but haven't connected the two yet. Hope I have not confused you!
