When/Where did this William C. Pitner die?

I am researching one Will C. Pitner (b. circa 1825 AL).

On 6-19=1848 in Rusk County, TX he married Anne 'Jane' E. Brown.

I have located them on the 1850 census (in Rusk County) and on the 1860 census in Madison Co., AR.

I hae yet to locate them on the 1870 census. By all accounts he, his wife, daughter Emma, and son Thomas E. should be together.

I have located the daughter in Denton, TX on the 1880; the son is in Throckmorton County, TX on the 1880; but William and Jane are no where to be found.

Jane remarries to John Casner on 8-27-1882 in Shackelford County, TX but they then live in Haskell County, TX until Jane dies in 1898.

It is estimated William C. Pitner died circa 1881 or early 1882 probably in Texas (maybe in Arkansas). Would like to communicate with anyone who can shed some light on this.
