I finally received the issue of the Smoky Mountain Historical Society newletter Volume 23, No. 4 Winter 1992. In this issue it traces the line of Adam H. Pitner Sr. The submitter is Rosa Lee R. Calame of Austin Texas. The PITNER line listed is as follows:
B.In Germany (Came to Pa.) Then to Va.
B.1758 (Just of peace-1832 Sevier County)
B.1799 Knox County
2.Adam H. Pitner Sr.
B.In Pa. raised in Va.
D.1841 McMinn, Tennessee
3.Adam H. Pitner, Jr.
M.Rachel Born 1974 Died 11-11-1852
D.1-1-1873 in Habersham, Ga.
4.Amanda A. Pitner
B.July 1833 Sevier County, Tennessee
M.(1)John O'Dell (2)Davis Hix
D.October 1896, Johnson County, Texas
The submitter provides the following notes:
1.Adam, Jr. owned land 1822 in Sevier County
2.Lists other children of Adam, JR.
3.Indicates originally name as Beatner
4.Cites F.R.Piter letter to Clarence Fisher
5.Notes John had 2 brothers in Rev. War
6.John had brother who stayed in Germany
I believe most of the information is that which we already know of. There were no surprises or mysteries solved. I feel that of the the two brothers believed to have been killed in the Revolutionary War that either one of both of them survived. The Pitner line that seems to elude everyone had to begin somewhere. I just wish that somehow we can confirm whether or not the brothers survived and if they did where did they go after the war.
Oh well, the mystery continues. If anyone wuld like me to copy the pages in the magazine please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org and I will copy and mail to you.
All for now,
