Hi Tom,

It is several years since I tried to research the PITTOCK name. At that time there was no forum for the name. Thanks for starting it!

My connection with the family is fairly far back.
Ann Pittock (b.1757 Eastry) married William Hancock in 1788. He was my ggg grandfather. He was a shoemaker, and she was daughter of the innkeeper of the Five Bells. I was in Eastry a few weeks ago and copied the list of landlords dating from 1675. The inn was managed by 3 different Pittocks from 1752 until 1812.

Through the KENT-ENG rootsweb mailing list I made contact with a lady in a village near Deal (same lady maybe!)and have similar data. Her ancestor was a brother of our Ann, I believe.

Eastry is very close by and the clan is likely very interconnected. What is your connection to the family and does your data indicate any branch in Eastry?

Marjorie Hancock
