To Katarzyna: Greetings to you and your family in Poland! By the time you read this note, I hope you will have had a safe trip. I don't know the time zones very well outside of the US, but I would guess that Warsaw would be around 12 hours ahead of the Central Time Zone in which I live (my guess might be well off the mark). By the time some Americans are waking up and starting the day, some in Warsaw have perhaps already finished most of their day (except for those who work at night). I don't know how the time change affects everyone, but for some of us old folks (who are well above 23 years of age and can hardly remember when or if they were 23 years old), it may take a few days or more of adjustment on the body. After 09/11/01, I imagine that plane travel might be slower or more cumbersome because of some of the necessary extra security precautions. Anyway, I am going to try harder to find out when my line of Plachtas came to the US and when they settled in the area of Detroit, Michigan. I will try to give more accurate information. I am anxiously looking forward to the continued correspondence with you once you have some time and are settled there.
