Hi Eleanor,
I just read your posting(I hope you are still active on this site)and think we may be related. There is a graveyard in the Parish of Noughavil, Co. Westmeath with a gravestone that reads:
"Pray for the Soul of Michael Plant" Died 17 December 1738.Erected by Humphrey Plant.
My Great-Great-Grandmother was a Plant we believe. She was married to Patrick Murphy(my Great-Great-Grandfather) and they had a daughter(my great-grandmother), Anne Murphy (1843-1918), who married James Connaughton(my great-grandfather), in 1868 in Tang, Co Westmeath. They are buried in the plot with Michael Plant along with other family members. If you can shed any light on this I would be very grateful. Also in my search, I have found the following, which may be helpful to you:
